Toilets come in various sizes, shapes, and colors. Here are the main differences:

• An ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) toilet must have a 17”-19” floor to bowl rim height including the seat. These taller toilets are often called “Comfort Height”. A standard toilet is about 15” from floor to seat.

• The shape of the toilet bowl and seat can either be elongated or round. Round bowls work better in a smaller bathroom and are usually less expensive than elongated. However, elongated (oval) bowls are typically more comfortable and offer a larger opening.

• Toilets can also come in a variety of colors ranging from light to dark. The most popular colors are white and Biscuit (sometimes called Linen or Bone)

• Federal standard regarding gallons per flush is currently 1.6. Most toilets you will see in stores use less water with a total of 1.28 gallons per flush.

Pro Tip: Flushable wipes should not be flushed. In some situations, they can cause major clogs when they don’t disintegrate like toilet paper will do.
